Johnathan is almost 18!!!
I can not believe how big he has gotten; he's 5 foot tall and 112 pounds now. He loves Harleys, dune buggies, horses and blondes. He still loves Elmo and Brobee and hanging with his family too, but his aunriness is a lot harder to quiet now that he is older.
I am planning a big shindig for his birthday/graduation, so stay tuned for details. It will be the first Saturday in May, 2017.

We just learned Johnathan has another hole in the tubing of his baclofen pump, so we have to be in St Louis for surgery on April 9th. Sadly both our vans have mechanical issues and it is like the worst timing ever financially to have to fix them. So I made some calls and was told that there are organizations that help with repairs on vehicles, along with adapting them if need be. I was thrilled. I have applied for help thru one agency to fix the cheaper of the two bids, and pray it works out for our immediate need.
In my fundraising efforts though, I also learned something I kinda already knew, but the thought was so out of reach for us these days, that I didn't even think on it. I found that United Access has a list of funding sources for adapting vehicles if I can come up with the money to purchase the vehicle; which apparently it is cheaper to buy than to adapt. So, for the long term, and in hopes of no longer allowing the 2 vans I have to nickle and dime us any more, I am trying to find funding for a handicap accessible van. Johnathan is 14 now, 5' tall, almost 90 pounds. Dad and I ain't getting any younger, and with my health issues, having a handicap accessible van is a must nowadays.
Donations can be made in Johnathans name, directly to United Access in Lenexa, KS, Attn: Kieth. Please help me get the word out and get Johnathan riding around as often as he wants, and not when mom and dad can.
We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.' So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process? Have a Shay Day everyone!!!
